OpenWRT is an Open-Source Linux distribution. Instead of trying to cram
every possible feature into one firmware, OpenWRT provides only a
minimal firmware with support for add-on packages. For users this means
the ability to custom tune features, removing unwanted packages to make
room for other packages and for developers this means being able to
focus on packages without having to test and release an entire firmware.
Compex
is proud to announce support for Open-WRT on both WP54 6E and WP18. Open-WRT is
already debugged, which means the user can focus more on installing
packages and customize features on WP54 6E and WP18. Moreover, WP54 6E
and WP18 with Open-WRT
can also support Atheros-based miniPCI (AR2413/ AR2414/ AR5413/ AR5414) as
we have already integrated the open-source madwifi drivers into Open-WRT,
thus creating less headaches for beginners.
On WP54 6E, the Linux Kernal used is Version
2.4. Currently, Linux kernel 2.6 is being developed and we will announce
it once it is ready. On WP18, Linux Kernel 2.6 is already supported.
An optional JTAG Programmer is also
available for debugging on WP54/WP18. The JTAG Programmer is a low cost
interface used in the design, debug and programming of Compex WP54 MIPs
platform and WP18 ARM/X-Scale platform. One side of the JTAG Programmer
interfaces to the parallel port of a host PC and the other side connects
to JTAG port of the target system. It acts as the signal buffer between
parallel port signals and the target JTAG signals. |
